After finishing strong in the play downs against Owen Sound and Shelburne with scores of 2-0 and 5-0 respectively, the U13 Boys rep team advanced to play Cambridge in the 2012 SWRSL cup finals.

With Cambridge dominating the division during the regular season with 125 GF and 9 GA the side from Rockwood had their work cut out for them to prepare a strong side for the final game.

With hard work and wearing their heart on the sleeve the Rockwood team took to the field in what would prove to be a game that surprised, invoked pride and brought out the true spirit of the team and the sport.

After dominating most of the first half in Cambridge’s side with several great scoring opportunities, the team had an unlucky goal scored against them late in the half.  Taking to the field for the second half down by 1 the team battled hard to create opportunities, but the ball could not find the back of Cambridge’s net. After full time with Rockwood being on the short side of a 3-0 score, the team came off the field leaving nothing left  but an effort to be extremely proud.
