The national Volunteer Programme for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ and the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 was launched at Parliament Hill in Ottawa on 8 October 2013 during the FIFA Official Host City workshop being held in Ottawa.

Hundreds of volunteers will be required to host the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 competition taking place between 5 August and 24 August 2014. It is expected the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ will need thousands to help ensure Canada delivers the most successful FIFA Women’s World Cup™ ever from 5 June to 6 July 2013.

“We invite Canadians to join us and register as volunteers to help show the world our passion for sport,” said the Honourable Bal Gosal, Canadian Minister of State (Sport). “Our government is pleased to support these major international events. From coast to coast, we have a unique opportunity to showcase to the world Canadian hospitality and cultural diversity through these two important women’s sporting events, which will also result in many economic benefits.”

“As part of the team helping to deliver these two world-class competitions, volunteers will play an important role in establishing a meaningful legacy for sport and women’s soccer in Canada,” said Victor Montagliani, Chair of the National Organising Committee for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ and the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014. “It would be impossible to stage this event without the effort and passion of those committed to volunteering.”

Volunteers are encouraged to apply to be part of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™. The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 is a critical lead-in event to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™. Those who volunteer in 2014 will help ensure a high level of excellence by developing into volunteer leaders and creating momentum for the larger event taking place the following year.
